The Problem:

<aside> 🖊️ One of the greatest challenges faced by working parents is the limited availability and high cost of childcare. Currently, the average waitlist for a childcare provider is ~1.5 years, and childcare is listed as the #1 highest budget item for families in most states. This problem has massive social consequences and plays a big role in gender equity in the workplace, as witnessed by the fact that 74% of women leaving the workforce today cite the lack of decent childcare options as the primary reason why.

The Solution:

<aside> 🖊️ Lief solves the childcare undersupply crisis by leveraging the efficiencies of shared care and technology to match like-minded families and place quality, trained providers in the home. Lief starts with a software platform that matches parents with similar childcare needs in groups of 3 using a matching algorithm. These parents then have the chance to confirm these groups, after which a nanny will be matched to them for future care. Lief is currently in the process of launching a pilot in Portland, Maine for 15 children and 5-7 providers.

The Impact:

<aside> 🖊️ Lief will foster better working environments for both childcare workers and parents. Pooling childcare would raise wages 2x average industry pay for childcare workers. Lief alleviates the burden of finding local childcare providers on parents, allowing them to continue pursue their goals and interests.
