As humans, we all have some underlying “blueprint” for how we experience and understand the world around us. Psychology helps us define and make sense of this blueprint. By utilizing psychology in our design processes, we can create experiences that are more intuitive, delightful, and human-centered!
By the end of this course, you will be able to use the psychology of design to more deeply understand user experiences and design solutions through the lens of human behavior. We will use tools such as Figma, Notion, and Slack to cover topics such as color psychology, Gestalt principles, Hick’s Law, social proof, and so much more!

Coffee Chats are our version of office hours. Stop by DALI from 2-3:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays if you want help with course material, human-centered design course recommendations, or just to hang out!
We will be using Slack, DALI’s standard messaging system, to keep in contact with one another - please have it downloaded.
There are no grades!
We want to make this process as rewarding as possible, however everything is based on your own interest and desire to actually learn cool things. This is a great opportunity to take risks and explore your creativity!
At the end of the term there will be a final presentation where you will present to Professors and students in the DALI Lab as well as your friends/family. If you have interest in one day joining DALI this is definitely a time to shine!
Each student, if they have met the graduation requirements, will receive an official DALI certificate.
Figma is our friend! We don’t expect all of you to have experience using Figma. But, it’s a pretty easy program to learn. Here are a few supplemental tutorials on the tool if you are having trouble getting used to the platform.
